A brief overview: DJI Launches it's first delivery drone globally.

Jan 20, 2024

Intro

The DJI FlyCart 30 initially launched in August of 2023 strictly for the Chinese market, but in January 2024 DJI confirmed the global launch of the FlyCart 30. Unlike any other DJI drone ever made before, the FlyCart is designed with one purpose, that is to deliver goods quickly and efficiently.

What's the hype behind the FlyCart 30?

Ever since the FlyCart 30 launched in the Chinese domestic market, there has huge speculation that the FlyCart 30 could become the first fully integrated delivery solution to become available in the North American market and beyond, and as of January 2024 the speculation has come true. The primary demand for  the FlyCart 30 in Canada and the North American market stems from it's ease of use and streamlined designed and software controls, as well as it's impressive payload capacity.

 Controlling the FlyCart 30

As expected from DJI Enterprise, the FlyCart 30 has plenty of options for control via software. With the FlyCart 30 users are able to pair it with DJI Pilot 2, used for most operations and Health monitoring of the aircraft. Alongside this, DJI's all new DeliveryHub can be used for planning and partially automating delivery tasks with the FlyCart 30. Since the FlyCart 30 supports a variety of DJI's in house software's it means mission planning and getting flying is easier then ever.

Legalities of the FlyCart 30 within Canada

The FlyCart 30 is subject to some regulations due to it's max takeoff weight of  up to 95kg. Within Canada any drones above 25kg require a SFOC (Special Flight Operation Certificate) from Transport Canada. The SFOC must be filed and submitted to the government roughly a month in advanced to the proposed date(s) of flight. A Transport Canada employee will review the SFOC and notify the filing body if the request has been accepted or if more information is required.

Applications of the FlyCart 30

The DJI FlyCart has launched with some impressive specifications making it ideal for a wide variety of applications. Some primary use cases of the FlyCart 30 are,

  • Aerial Food Delivery
  • Same-Site item transport (between warehouses, buildings etc.)
  • Transfer of hospital supplies.
